POCAHONTAS (AP) — Authorities say a woman has been rescued after her vehicle collided with a gas truck and caught fire.
News outlets report the woman’s car crashed into the back of a Neill Propane Gas truck on U.S. 49 near Pocahontas on Wednesday.
A Hinds County Sheriff’s Office news release says the car caught fire while the driver was trapped inside. Authorities say a good Samaritan was able to free the woman from the vehicle.
Officials say deputies were able to fight the blaze with fire extinguishers until firefighters arrived and put the fire out.
The woman and the gas truck driver were taken to the hospital. The woman is in serious condition. The truck driver’s condition was not immediately released.
