Funeral services for Jack M. Rutledge, of Brookhaven, are today, Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2017, at 2 p.m. at Brookhaven Funeral Home (Natchez Drive), with burial at Union Hall Baptist Church Cemetery. Bro. Billie Joe Deer and Bro. Nick Hodges will officiate the services.

Visitation was held Monday, Sept. 18, 2017, from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home and will continue at today, Sept.19, 2017, from 1 p.m. until time of service at the funeral home.

Mr. Rutledge, 77, died Saturday, Sept. 16, 2017, at his residence with his loving family by his side. He was born Nov. 7, 1939, to T.J. and Edith Miller Rutledge. He was a member of Union Hall Baptist Church. He served his country in the Mississippi National Guard. He worked for many years as a rural postal carrier and a farmer; and enjoyed working, fishing and spending time with his family. He was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend.

Preceding him in death were his parents, T.J. and Edith Miller Rutledge; and great-granddaughter, Autumn Bozeman.

Survivors are his wife of 57 years, Joyce Smith Rutledge; sons, Kevin Rutledge and wife Debbie of Brookhaven, and Thomas Rutledge and wife Johanna of Birmingham, Alabama; brother, Percy Rutledge and wife Sarah Nell of Bogue Chitto; grandchildren, Josh Rutledge and wife Breann, Austin Rutledge and wife Searra, Leslie Rutledge, Graham Rutledge, Nicholas Rutledge, Ricky McDaniel and wife Michelle, Walt McDaniel and fiancé Mandy, and Rachel Dobbs and husband Jesse; seven great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Pallbearers are Stanley Dixon, Stevie Smith, Tim Posey, Billy Martin, G. J. McCullough and Dudley Waldrop. Honorary pallbearers are Byron McCullough, Dwayne Laird and Randy Boyd.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Hospice Ministries and the church family of Union Hall Baptist Church.
