GULFPORT (AP) — A man who said he was headed to Texas for Hurricane Harvey relief work is accused of tossing cocaine out the window during a Mississippi traffic stop.

The Sun Herald reports a police officer filed a sworn statement against 41-year-old Derrick D’Angelo Edwards of Gautier.

The statement says during a careless driving stop Thursday on Interstate 10 near Ocean Springs, officers saw someone toss nearly 5.6 pounds of cocaine from the sport utility vehicle Edwards was driving. Two packages were recovered.
