The ‘Pop’ shops here: Chancery clerk hosting sale

The Bishop front yard in Heucks Retreat will be the setting for some serious buying and selling Friday and Saturday.
Tillmon Bishop will be hosting Pop’s Shop at his home starting at 7 a.m. each day.
Bishop, Lincoln County’s chancery clerk, is a picker at heart and organizes an occasional sale to move some of the older items out so he has room for the newer antiques.
For this sale, Bishop has invited friends from all over the state who share his love for vintage items and antiques. He said there will be about 18 booths set up along his circular driveway at his home and all will have some interesting and unique items for sale and they’ll be ready to negotiate.
Bargaining, he said, is his favorite part of the game.
“The negotiations and the dealings is the part I like the best,” he said. “You may not be able to make a deal, but you can always part friends.”
Breakfast plates will be offered for sale for $5 and the Heucks Retreat Baptist Church youth group will be selling hot dogs and burgers for lunch.
Vendors will be open until about 4 p.m.
Bishop opened Pop’s Shop to the public in March, but with only his own items for sale.
“It went over so well,” he said. “It was incredible how many people showed up. I was overwhelmed.”
This time he’s made a few changes, namely asking fellow antiquers to come set up and stretching the event to two days.
“It’s just too much work for one day,” he said.
Pop’s Shop is located at Bishop’s home at 1915 Heucks Retreat Road. Look for signs.
