Funeral services for Winnie Williams Smith, of Brookhaven, are today, Sept. 26, 2017, at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Brookhaven with burial at Rose Hill Cemetery in Brookhaven. Rev. Greg Warnock will officiate the services with Brookhaven Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Visitation will be today, Sept. 26, 2017, from 10 a.m. until time of service at the church.

Mrs. Smith, 93, died Saturday, Sept. 23, 2017, at Diversicare Nursing Home in Brookhaven with her loving family by her side. She was born April 12, 1924, in Fair Oak Springs, to G. D. and Mildred Sandifer Williams. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. For many years she ran the Christmas Toy Shop above the downtown Sunflower Food Store.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband of 69 years, Millard E. Smith; and brothers, George, Jesse Calvin and Jerry Williams.

Survivors are her sons, Dr. Millard Bedford Smith and wife Sarah, of Beaufort, North Carolina, and Edward Dee “Dee Dee” Smith and wife Donna, of Brookhaven; grandchildren, Dienna Moak and husband Pete, Heather Smith and husband Jason and Meagan Turpin; great-grandchildren, McKenzi Turpin, Anna Katelyn Smith, Will Moak, Anderson Turpin, Maley Moak, Jacob Smith, Morgan Moak, Jonah Smith, Walker Moak, Jackson Smith and Marshall Davis; and a host of family and friends.

The family wishes to think the staffs of Peachtree Village in Brandon, Diversicare of Brookhaven, and Hospice Ministries of Brookhaven, for their kind and loving care.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Winnie W. Smith’s name may be made to the building fund at First Baptist Church, 200 East Monticello St., Brookhaven, MS 39601.
