The Bogue Chitto Lady Bobcats, on Senior Night, hosted the BHS Lady Panthers. The Lady Bobcats took an early lead and never looked back, winning 6-1.

“The girls played well enough tonight to win the game,” said Lady Bobcats coach Scott Leggett. “We had a great night last night and were hoping to hit the ball well again tonight, but our bats weren’t alive like they were last night.”

“We played pretty good defense and got the win. Our seniors have been great leaders this year. Offensively they have been the two highest hitters we have, and defensively they have made big plays for us.”

Both teams took a scoreless game into the third inning. With two outs, in the top of the third, Kat Wallace hit a RBI single to score the Lady Panthers’ only run of the game, before the Lady Bobcats could record the final out. The Lady Bobcats tied the game in their half of the inning on a RBI sacrifice by Reagan Kirkland. They then took the lead scoring two more runs, on an RBI single and off of a RBI double by Baileigh Jackson.

The score remained 3-1 in favor of the Lady Bobcats until the sixth inning, where the Lady Bobcats scored three more runs. Karly Leake nailed a two-run RBI stand-up triple. The Lady Bobcats scored the final run on a Lady Panthers error.

“We’ve got to be more consistent at the plate,” said coach Mandy Vinson of Brookhaven. “We came off of two good wins Saturday. We came out here tonight and couldn’t put any hits together and weren’t patient at the plate. Defense made a couple of minor errors but they weren’t nothing we shouldn’t have been able to recover from.”
