The Bogue Chitto Lady Bobcats and the Brookhaven Lady Panthers met head-to-head just one week ago in a match-up that ended with Bogue Chitto on top.

Lady Bobcats coach Scott Leggett said his team played pretty well on defense but their “bats weren’t alive.”

Brookhaven coach Mandy Vinson said her team didn’t display enough patience at the plate and needed to be more consistent.

Though they won’t be facing each other Saturday, they’ll still be nurturing patience and consistency and looking for the bats to be alive as they enter regional playoffs.

Bogue Chitto vs. Sebastopol

The Lady Bobcats of Bogue Chitto will face the Lady Bobcats of Sebastopol beginning at 2 p.m. at Bogue Chitto in the Class 1 slow-pitch bracket. The second game is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. If a tie-breaker is needed, it will begin at 5 p.m.

“Sebastopol is a very familiar opponent,” said Leggett. “This will be the 16th overall series between the two of us in the past 13 years. This is a rematch from last year’s South State series where we won two of the three games. They are always a scrappy team and are well-coached. At this point, the team who hits the ball the best will move on.”

Brookhaven vs. Meridian

The Lady Panthers of Brookhaven will host the Lady Wildcats of Meridian in a double-header beginning at 1 p.m.  in the Class 3 bracket. A third game will be played if a tie-breaker is needed.

“It’s a new season for us,” Vinson said. “Our girls have battled and improved all year. I’m excited to see how they start off in playoffs.”

More games

The West Lincoln Lady Bears will face the Union Lady Yellowjackets  at Union in Class 1.

The Franklin County Lady Bulldogs will host the Northeast Lauderdale Lady Trojans in Class 2.

The Wesson Lady Cobras will travel to face the Raleigh Lady Lions, also in Class 2.

Due to the threat of inclement weather on Saturday, the first round of the slow pitch softball playoffs may be played today, if both schools agree and officials can be assigned.
