Brookhaven Panthers slay the Patriots 45-6
The region leading Brookhaven Panthers (6-1, 3-0) easily handled the Forest Hill Patriots (1-6, 0-1) 45-6 on Friday night at Forest Hill.
Brookhaven led 45-0 at halftime and would rest their starters during the second half and allow their younger players to gain experience.
“We were sharp on both sides of the ball for most of the night,” said Brookhaven head coach Tommy Clopton. “We had an opportunity to get everyone in during the second half and it was good for those guys that work hard every week on our scout teams,” said Clopton. “We’re glad to be 3-0 in the division and looking forward to being back home for homecoming next week.”
Forest Hill would get on the board at the end of the third quarter with a 98-yard drive. Before that drive the Panther defense had held the Patriots to under 30 yards of total offense.
Panther quarterback Sevante Quinn finished 7-for-9 passing for 140 yards. Junior wideout John Hilbert caught three passes for 85 yards and two touchdowns and junior wideout Dorian German made a 38-yard touchdown catch. Damerrell Legget led the Brookhaven rushing attack with 98 yards and sophomore Jaquarius Edwards added 44 yards on the ground.
Brookhaven hosts Natchez for their homecoming game at 7 p.m. on King Field next Friday night.
