Gene and Toni Newell announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter Abigail Newell of Brookhaven to Chase Martin of Brookhaven.

He is the son of Timothy and Tammy Martin.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Bill Prewitt and the late Rosemary Prewitt, and Mert Newell and the late Bennie Newell.

The prospective groom is the grandson of The late H.H. Dick and Ruth Martin, and Shirley Bessonette.

She is a 2011 graduate of Loyd Star Attendance Center and a 2014 graduate of Copiah-Lincoln Community College and the University of Mississippi with a degree in nursing. She is employed as a registered nurse in labor and delivery at King’s Daughters Medical Center.

He is a 2005 graduate of Brookhaven High School and a 2007 graduate of Copiah-Lincoln Community College with a degree in welding. He is employed as a welder at Fabricated Pipe Inc. in Fernwood.

The couple will exchange vows on Saturday, Oct. 28, 2017, at 6 p.m. at Friendship Baptist Church. Bro. Chad Yarborough will officiate. A reception will follow at the old Wesson school.
