Wesson advances in softball playoffs

Wesson hosted the Raleigh Lady Lions Saturday in the first games of the MHSAA softball playoffs. The Lady Cobras won the series in two games — the first 18-6 and the second 9-6.

Anna Claire Crow led the Lady Cobras’ offense in game one, going 5-for-5 at the plate, hitting one triple, one double and three singles. Nikki Guess went 3-for-4 with one triple and two doubles.

Arie Douglas also went 3-for-4 with three singles. Katherine Wilson went 3-for-3, hitting three singles.

Laynee Crapps hit two doubles. Amber Brinson had two singles. Brook Jones finished the game with one single. By the time the final out was recorded, the Lady Cobras had tripled the runs of the Lady Lions to win 18-6.

In game two, Crapps hit for a double and a single. Shelby Maxwell hit two singles. Brinson hit two hits, one double and one single.

Jones also had a single and a double. Shalyn Green, Douglas, Crow, Guess and Wilson each finished the game with singles. The Lady Cobras won game two by a final score of 9-6.

The Wesson Lady Cobras will be in action today as they take on the Purvis Lady Tornados and look to advance further in the playoffs.
