Boston butt parfait … Is it a butt? Is it a dessert?

Find out tomorrow at the 2017 Wesson Flea Market, a gathering of more than 130 vendors selling food, arts and crafts along the streets of downtown Wesson from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. There will be clothing, decorations, cakes, jellies, jams and, somewhere, a Boston butt parfait.

“Hopefully I will know what that tastes like by Saturday evening,” said Wesson Volunteer Fire Department Chief Ken Carraway. “We’ll have all kinds of good eats and a little bit of everything.”

Hundreds of visitors are expected to hit the flea market, which serves as the fire department’s single annual fundraiser. Carraway says the event is averaging around $8,000 in funds raised for the department, which they use to buy turnout gear, radios, training and sometimes even operating expenses.

Weather is expected to be nice for the Wesson Flea Market, with plenty of cloud cover and high temperatures in the low 80s. There is a 50 percent chance of evening thunderstorms, but the flea market should be over by then.

“There’s going to be great shopping for everyone and great fellowship, seeing friends and family on the streets,” Carraway said. “It will be a wonderful day to get out and browse.”
