Though rain didn’t fall during the entire game, it did seem to play a factor as the Enterprise Yellow Jackets got washed out 48-0 by the Bogue Chitto Bobcats Friday night.
Bogue Chitto (4-5, 0-3) junior running back Lafredrick Dillon was the bright star on this dreary evening, scoring four times.
Bogus Chitto opened the game with an onside kick which they easily recovered. Just three minutes into the first quarter, Dillon carried the ball into the end zone for a 7-yard touchdown. The two-point conversion attempt was no good. The Bobcats were first on the board, 6-0.
Maybe it was the wet weather that caused Enterprise (1-8, 0-3) to make the first fumble of the night, though both teams would have their fair share. Bogue Chitto recovered, and a few minutes later junior running back Damarcus Godbold ran 12 yards for a second Bobcat touchdown. Again, the two-point attempt failed and Bogue Chitto led 12-0.
Just into the second quarter, it was Bogue Chitto’s turn to fumble and Enterprise recovered. The Yellow Jackets didn’t keep the ball for long, however. Dillon made his second touchdown of the night, also a 7-yarder with a failed two-point after attempt. the Bobcats led 18-0.
Three more fumbles came before the end of the first half arrived — the first from the Bobcats recovered by the Jackets. Then the Bobcats recovered a forced Yellow Jackets’ fumble.
Dillon punched in a one-yard TD and — for the first time of the night — the two-point attempt succeeded and the Bobcats led 26-0. Then came the next fumble, recovered on the kickoff from Enterprise by Bogue Chitto’s sophomore Brandon Black.
With 41 seconds left in the first half, senior quarterback Trey Nettles connected to sophomore wide receiver Zach Upkins for a 27-yard touchdown. With another successful two-point conversion, Bogue Chitto entered halftime leading 34-0.
Enterprise’s young team was not able to recover from the onslaught of the first 30 minutes as the second half commenced. Dillon made his fourth score of the evening just 19 seconds in from the start of the clock. His 55-yard touchdown was followed by a good two-point conversion and the Bobcats sat on top of a 42-0 lead.
As time expired in the third quarter, Bobcats junior wide receiver Evan Kyzar (28) made an 8-yard touchdown but no point after. Enterprise trailed 48-0.
It was the last time anyone would score, as the fourth quarter was fumble-filled — Enterprise fumbled first and Bogue Chitto recovered two minutes in. Then the Yellow Jackets forced and recovered a Bobcats fumble halfway through the quarter. Just after the two-minute warning, Enterprise repeated the fumble and Bogue Chitto repeated a recovery. That was it for the teams and the game ended 48-0.
Bogue Chitto advances to the playoffs with this district win Friday night. Enterprise’s season is complete.
