Funeral services for Mary Lanell Rushing, of Pine Prairie, Louisiana, were held at Monday, Oct. 30, 2017, at 10 a.m. at Pine Prairie Christian Tabernacle with burial at Stewarts Cemetery in Brookhaven. Rev. Barry Gautreaux, Johnny Wilkinson and Chris Juneau officiated the service.  Rush Funeral Home in Oakdale, Louisiana was in charge of arrangements.

Visitation was held Sunday, Oct. 29, 2017 from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. at Pine Prairie Christian Tabernacle and continued Monday, Oct. 30, 2017, from 8 a.m. until time of service at the church.

Mrs. Rushing, 74, died Friday, Oct. 27, 2017, in Opelousas General Hospital. She was born Dec. 31, 1942. She was a member of the Pine Prairie Christian Tabernacle where she was considered the church grandmother.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Calvin Rushing; parents, J. L. and Bessie Boswell; grandson, John William “Trey” Wilkinson III; one brother; and two sisters.

Survivors are her three daughters, Teresa Gautreaux and her husband, Barry, of Pine Prairie, Louisiana, Rebecca Leake and her husband, David, of Lake Mills, Iowa, and Nell Wilkinson and her husband, John, of Laurel; brother, Joseph Boswell, of Brookhaven; two sisters, Rachel Hall and Beverly Wilkerson, both of Brookhaven; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
