Sheriff: 9-year-old boy shot in his home
LEXINGTON (AP) — Authorities say a 9-year-old boy has been shot in his Mississippi home while he was sleeping, and a warrant has been issued for his mother’s ex-boyfriend.
Holmes County Sheriff Willie March told news outlets that the shots were fired into the home and that the child was struck while he slept Monday around 1 a.m.
Authorities say the child was shot in the shoulder, arm and hand. The child’s injuries are considered non-life-threatening.
March says the child’s mother has a lifetime protective order against an ex-boyfriend who had been trying to contact the woman.
