Ervin Smith

Graveside services for Ervin Smith, of Brookhaven, were held Monday, Nov. 6, 2017, at 2:30 p.m. at Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery in Brookhaven with burial following. Dr. Garland Boyd, Bro. Billy Joe Deer and Bro. Nathan Case officiated the services. Brookhaven Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Visitation was held Monday, Nov. 6, 2017, from noon until 2p.m.

Mr. Smith, 93, died Saturday, Nov. 4, 2017, at his residence with his loving family by his side. He was born Feb. 15, 1924, to Ras Smith and Viola Smith Smith. He was retired from DOTCO Fishing Tools. He served his country in World War II in the U. S. Navy. He was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Preceding him in death were his parents; brothers, Ernest Smith, Truly Smith, and Willis Smith, all of Brookhaven, and his twin brother, Bennie Smith, of Seattle, Washington; sisters, Minnie Smith, Wisie Case and Winnie Case; and son-in-law Don Pepper.

Survivors are his wife of 70 years, Loise Mae Case Smith; daughters, Lou Norton and husband Gary and Peggy Pepper; sons, Les Smith and wife Dianne and Tony Smith and wife Katherine, all of Brookhaven; 10 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Kayla, Heather, Becky and the staff of Hospice Compassus and the Rev. Billy Joe Deer.
