Police: Woman finds possible bombs while cleaning garage
MADISON (AP) — The drudgery of cleaning out the garage was interrupted for one Mississippi woman by the discovery of three items that appeared to be pipe bombs.
Madison police tell local media they were called to a home on Monday after they were contacted about three possibly explosive devices.
A bomb squad destroyed the items in the house’s front yard less than two hours later. Nobody was injured. Surrounding homes were evacuated.
Capt. Kevin Newman says residents of the home reported knowing nothing about the devices. However, the residents said another family member had died about a year ago.
The FBI and U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives are helping Madison police with an investigation.
