Our sweet mom, Tama Rea Porter Chance, had many extraordinary gifts-gifts that the masses could have easily overlooked. These many gifts were not overlooked by the many souls that she touched. Our mom was a rescuer of people and a fixer of broken wings. Mom listened with her heart, not her ears. Mom was the best friend that a friend could have. Mom taught herself to play the piano on the front door steps of her childhood home and some of her happiest moments in life were spent in front of a piano playing and singing gospel hymns with family and friends. Our mom and dad gave us the gift of seeing what a true life love story looked like. Theirs was a life spent honoring, supporting, cherishing and loving each other without abandon and for all of the world to see. Mom’s grands were the lights of her life and in turn their “Gram” was the light of theirs. Mom’s lifelong desire even into her last day’s was that all would know the healing power of Jesus Christ and the gift of his eternal salvation.Thank you Lord for the blessing of our mom and praise Jesus for taking her into his kingdom.

Preceding her in death were her parents; son, Christopher Dean Chance; brother, Rodney Earl Porter and sister, Lavelle Porter Case.

Survivors are her husband of 54 years, Albert Elzie Chance; sons, Albert Darrell Chance and wife Kim, and William Tracey Chance and wife Christy; daughter, Angela Rose Chance Currie and husband Alan; brothers, Warren Porter Jr. and Michael Shelton Porter; sisters, Jo Nita Porter and Patsy Ella Porter Douglas; 10 grandchildren, Morgan Devaney, Haley Devaney, Courtney Chance, Madison Currie, Kristen Chance, Jack Porter Chance, Kayce Chance, Olivia Rea Chance, Ellie Currie, Lauren Currie and a great-grandchild, London Teagarden.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in honor of Mrs. Chance to The Baptist Children’s Village, P.O. Box 27, Clinton, MS 39060-0027, www.baptistchildrensvillage.com/give.
