A Woodville man walking on Hwy. 61 in Wilkinson County died Friday morning after he was struck by a 2012 Peterbilt truck.

Dondi Daniel Dixon, 31, was walking in the northbound right lane of Hwy. 61 when he was hit by the truck, which was driven by Jerry L. Cooper, 78, of Pine Grove, Louisiana, said Cpl. Brandon Fortenberry of the Mississippi Highway Patrol.

The truck was traveling north on Hwy. 61 in the right lane as well, Fortenberry said.

The front of the truck hit Dixon, then came to rest in the southbound lane.

Dixon was pronounced dead at the scene, Fortenberry said.

The collision remains under investigation by MHP.
