Funeral services for Billy Ray Thomas Jr., of Brookhaven, are Saturday, Dec. 2, 2017, at 12:30 p.m. at Alexander Junior High School in Brookhaven, with burial at Cool Springs Cemetery in McCall Creek. Rev. Robert Charles Jointer will officiate the services. Riverwood Family Funeral Services in Brookhaven is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will be Friday, Dec. 1, 2017, from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Thomas, 23, died Friday, Nov. 24, 2017, at University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. He was born on Oct. 25, 1994, in Brookhaven. He was also known as “Lit Billy”, “Black” and “Bill”. He received his diploma from Brookhaven High School, in May of 2014, and then received his truck-driving certificate from Southwest Mississippi Community College in May of 2017. He worked as an over-the-road driver for US Xpress Inc. at the time of his death.

He is survived by his parents, Billy Ray Thomas Sr. and LaStangela K. Thomas; paternal grandmother, Minnie Thomas; maternal grandparents, Mose Bell and Diane Bell; two siblings, Jasmine N. Smith and Cordarryl L. Bell; three beautiful boys, Kaeden Elijah Epps, Corban Ray Thomas and Billy Ray Thomas III; special nephew, Brook Smith Jr.; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
