Lincoln County Sheriff’s deputies are searching for a person of interest in a shooting early Saturday that left a man hospitalized with a wound to his leg.

Sheriff Steve Rushing said the victim arrived at the emergency room at King’s Daughters Medical Center about 3 a.m. Saturday. He gave authorities a name, but Rushing said the victim was taken to University of Mississippi Medical Center for surgery before he could be questioned further.

Rushing said the shooting appears to have happened on Wellman Drive between Bogue Chitto and East Lincoln and occurred after a dispute.
