The Brookhaven Academy Cougars’ shooters went cold in a 50-32 loss to Parklane, but the Lady Cougars surged late to defeat the Lady Pioneers 38-32 Saturday.
In varsity boys action, Parklane used a 19-6 third quarter run to put some space between themselves and the Cougars that could not be overcome. BA dropped only their second game of the year, both to the Pioneers.
Cade Brown led BA with 10 points. Dawson Zumbro added eight points in support.
Zhavian Green and Tyler Ramshur led Parklane with 13 points each.
In girls action, the Lady Cougars came in hoping to avenge a one-point loss to the Lady Pioneers earlier in the year. With the score knotted at 21 going into the final frame, BA outscored Parklane 17-11, going seven of eight from the free throws line down the stretch to seal the deal.
Jana Case led BA and all scorers with 14 points. Anne Brantley Warren chipped in eight points toward the Lady Cougars’ total.
Allye Byrd led the Lady Pioneers with 10 points.
BA will be back in action December 28-30 as they participate in the Holiday Classic Tournament at Columbia Academy.
