Lady Bobcats pull off comeback, 35-32

Down but not out, the Lady Bobcats came from behind, beating Region 7-2A rival Enterprise Monday by a final score of 35-32.

With the win, the Lady Cats claim their first Region 7-2A game, and hold an 8-5 overall record. The Lady Jackets fall to 2-2 in region play with a 9-3 overall record.

“I’m proud of the girls’ effort and thought they responded well. Bogue Chitto’s girls shot the ball better in the second half,” Lady Jackets coach Shane Adams said. “Coach Terrell does a good job with her kids.”

Trailing at halftime, the she-cats needed to dig deep if they were going to win. Bogue Chitto came out after halftime and made the needed shots to pull off the comeback.

The Lady Jackets scored quickly to start off the game. Once the Lady Cats got on the board, the first period saw a deadlock, as the teams headed into the second quarter tied 6-6.

That quarter saw repeated lead changes and ties, with Enterprise getting the better end, taking the game 14-8 into halftime.

The she-jackets opened up the third period hitting a nine-point run, before the Lady Cats found the basket.

Bogue Chitto’s Lineka Newson gave her team every chance to stay in the game, hitting point after point. After three full quarters were in the book, Enterprise held onto a 25-20 lead.

The Lady Bobcats opened up the final period hitting a scoring drive, to give themselves the chance to complete a win. With the game tied at 32-all, the she-cats nailed a three-pointer to give themselves the lead and finish off the comeback, taking a victory 35-32.

Senior Carlee Nations led the Lady Jackets with nine points and senior Monisha Pedleton followed with seven points. Senior Jana Nations and junior Britany Barnett each shot five points. Senior Karlee Burgess and senior Eden Ward each bucketed three points. Junior Breyauna Johnson finished with two points.

Newson led the Lady Bobcats with 16 points and Karly Leake followed with seven. Baileigh Jackson shot six points. Cheyenne Hall, Charlise Wilson and Kylie Hux each contributed two points.

Bogue Chitto will take on Region 7-2A opponent Loyd Star Friday.

Enterprise will host regional foe Amite County on Friday.
