The Brookhaven Academy Cougars and Lady Cougars traveled to Natchez Monday evening to take on the Cathedral Green Wave for the second time this season and, like their November meeting, saw similar results.

The Cougars rode the Wave to a 59-26 win while the Lady Cougars powered past the Lady Wave by a score of 64-37.

The Cougars (24-2) used a balanced scoring attack and high-pressure defense to dominate the Green Wave, coasting to their decisive 33-point road win. After hanging close in the first frame, Cathedral saw themselves trailing 34-10 headed to the locker room at halftime. BA also controlled the second half, winning it 25-16.

Cade Brown paced BA’s balanced scoring output with 10 points. Tanner Thurman add nine points, Dawson Flowers and Ethan Nations each pitched in eight and Luke Jackson rolled in seven points in support. Brown added five rebounds and four assists to his evening of work.

Ty Tobias led Cathedral with a 15-point night.

The Lady Cougars (21-5) were all business from the start on Monday evening, stemming any Lady Wave runs with a barrage of first half three-point baskets and building a comfortable 35-23 advantage going into the midway break.

The ladies from BA continued to roll in the second half, posting 12 and 17 points in the third and fourth quarters, respectively. When the final buzzer sounded, the Lady Cougars stood atop a 27-point win.

Anne Brantley Warren and Jana Case topped the Lady Cougars’ scoring attack with 16 points each. Warren dropped 14 of her points in the second quarter alone, behind four long-range triples. Case hauled in eight rebounds and swiped four steals to lead BA in the non-scoring categories. Kailyn Jordan added 10 points to the BA scoring ledger in support.

Caroline Kaiser led Cathedral with 12 points.

In junior high action, the BA boys outlasted Cathedral 39-37 and the Lady Cougars cruised by the Lady Wave 33-23.

BA is back in action Thursday as they travel to Jackson to take on Clinton Christian in games to be played at the Mississippi Basketball and Athletics Center.

Brookhaven Academy will recognize their senior players on Friday prior to the varsity boys and girl’s games versus Copiah Academy.
