Free sports physicals for student-athletes attending local schools will be administered at King’s Daughters Medical Center Saturday.

Any student-athlete, regardless of age, requiring a sports-physical to compete in extra curricular activities may visit with their school group at appointed times for a free examination, a roughly $45 value.

“It’s a way for the hospital to give back to the community,” said David Culpepper, KDMC director of marketing. “This is one of the ways we make sure we’re putting healthier student-athletes on the field of competition.”

Parents interested in sending their children to the mass screenings should contact their school’s athletic director, or Culpepper at 601-833-6011. The hospital is expecting close to 1,500 students to participate, and walk-ins will not be accepted.

Screenings for students from Brookhaven schools begin at 8 a.m. Lawrence County students will be accepted at 10 a.m., and Wesson students begin at 11:30 a.m. Brookhaven Academy’s time begins at 12:30 p.m.

Lincoln County schools go in the afternoon, with Loyd Star at 1:30 p.m., West Lincoln at 2 p.m., Enterprise at 2:30 p.m. and Bogue Chitto at 3:30 p.m.

Copies of the physical forms each student will need to bring are available at the schools. KDMC asks that students do not fold the forms.

Physicals are valid for public school students for a period of 12 months.
