Funeral services for Mary Frances Varnado Britt, of Loyd Star, are Sunday, April 15, 2018, at 3 p.m. at Pleasant Ridge Pentecostal Church in Lincoln County, with burial at the Old Sweetwater Cemetery in Copiah County. Bro. Jerry Sullivan, Bro. David Lambert and Dr. James Hall will officiate the services. Brookhaven Funeral Home is charge of the arrangements.

Visitation will be today, April 14, 2018, from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home and will continue Sunday, April 15, 2018, from 2 p.m. until time of service at the church.

Mrs. Britt, 94, died Thursday, April 12, 2018, at her residence with her loving family by her side. She was born Sept. 25, 1923, in Homer, Louisiana, to Rev. Alvin Dennis and Bessie Grace Hooper Varnado. She is a member of Pleasant Ridge Pentecostal Church. She worked for many years as a bus driver for the Lincoln County School District and was a door greeter for Walmart in Brookhaven. She enjoyed gardening, working in the yard and spending time with her family. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great great-grandmother and friend.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Hollis J. Britt; sons, Hollis Francis

Britt and James Alvin Britt; sisters, Martha Grace Andrus, Jimmie Ruth Vanover and

Rebecca “Bethel” Andrus; grandson, Bradley Denson Britt; great-grandson, Michael

Denson Britt; and great-great-grandson, Riley Anding.

Survivors are her sons, Charles “Ronnie” Britt and wife Joyce, of Loyd Star, and

David “Red” Britt and wife Karen, of Loyd Star; daughter, Grace Lynette Smith, of

Loyd Star; brother, Rev. Alvin David Varnado and wife Thyra, of Groves, Texas; sister,

Janet Trout and husband Wayne, of Dover, Detroit; 19 grandchildren; 55 great- grandchildren; 30 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Pallbearers are Jeff Britt, Ken Smith, Kevin Britt, Kellis Britt, Brandon Britt and Toby

Britt. Honorary pallbearers are her grandsons and great-grandsons.
