Severe weather expected for area Saturday
Severe weather is expected in Southwest Mississippi Saturday.
Thunderstorms and showers are in this morning’s forecast, then showers and thunderstorms likely in the afternoon. Some thunderstorms may be severe with heavy rainfall.
Winds up to 70 mph with golfball sized hail are possible. Tornadoes are also possible. The main threat is from 5 a.m. to noon.
Highs today will be in the lower 70s. The chance of rain is near 100 percent.
Showers will continue tonight with a clearing of wet weather after midnight. Lows will be in the lower 40s with west winds 5 to 10 mph.
