Vicksburg police searching for stabbing suspect

VICKSBURG — Vicksburg police are looking for a man accused of stabbing another man during a fight at a convenience store Tuesday night.

According to police reports, Desmond Jermaine Taylor, 27, was stabbed twice, puncturing his lung. He was taken to Merit Health River Region Medical Center and later transferred to University of Mississippi Medical Center, where he was in stable condition.

Police are looking for 39-year old Charles Benard “Black Eye” Scott, 39, 2532 Oak St. in connection with the stabbing at the convenience store on Washington Street, which occurred about 9:47 p.m. Tuesday in the store parking lot.

Officers responding to a call about a stabbing at the convenience store were told Taylor left on foot with another man. The officers walked in the area of Speed and Marshall streets where they found Taylor lying in street.

Police learned Taylor got into a fight with Scott in the convenience store parking lot and Scott pulled a knife, stabbed Taylor twice, then ran from the area on foot.
