The Brookhaven School District Board of Trustees Tuesday night honored six district employees on their retirement.
The board recognized Carol Clanton from Brookhaven High School, Morrianne Furr from Alexander Junior High, Annie Henderson from Lipsey School, Leona White and Macie Bateman from Mamie Martin Elementary and Joyce Parker from child nutrition.
Following the presentation, the regularly scheduled meeting ran swiftly with most of the action approved in one fell swoop because it was listed as the consent agenda.
Some of the items approved included students transferring into the district as well as students transferring out; the donation of $2.48 from Ohiopyle Prints to the BHS Student Activities Fund for the commission from sale of BSD apparel in local stores; the purchase of two buses for the 2018-19 school year and fundraisers for the Archaeology Club.
The board entered into executive session twice to discuss student matters.
Following the first closed-door meeting, which lasted 30 minutes, board attorney Bob Allen announced that no action was taken.
The second meeting lasted about 20 minutes and resulted in a vote. Allen said the board voted to accept Superintendent Ray Carlockās recommendation of expulsion for the unnamed student that was discussed.
