5 Wolves receive All-State nods — Standouts come from across the field

Five members of the 2018 Co-Lin baseball team earned MACJC All-State recognition after finishing the season 20-21 overall and 9-19 in MACJC play. Catcher CJ Estave and outfielder Jaylyn Williams landed 1st Team All-State honors while pitcher Christian Day, outfielder Ryan Zimmerman and infielder Austin O’Flynn were selected as MACJC 2nd Team All-State.

Jaylyn Williams, a sophomore from Greenville, led the Wolves in RBIs this season with 37 in 129 at-bats. The sophomore batted .341 on the year, scored 44 runs, and led the team with nine homers. Williams boasted a .636 slugging percentage on the season and was solid in the field with a .973 fielding percentage. Williams’ impressive numbers landed him is second MACJC 1st Team All-State selection.

CJ Estave, a catcher from Fanklinton, Louisiana, had a stellar year at the plate for the Wolves and also earned a 1st Team All-State selection. Estave batted .370 over 108 at-bats and drove in 23 runs. The sophomore also posted two homers on the year. Estave stole 12 bases on the year and posted a .983 fielding percentage behind the plate.

Christian Day, Co-Lin’s sophomore ace from Natchez, earned 2nd Team recognition after leading the Wolves with 70.1 innings pitched. The sophomore had a 4.22 ERA and fanned 90 batters on the year. Day made 11 starts and 13 appearances on the season.

Austin O’Flynn, a sophomore infielder from Purvis, was a solid fielder for Co-Lin all year at multiple positions and at the plate. O’Flynn posted a .947 fielding percentage and batted .320 on the season. He drove in 20 runs and had two homers in a team-high 147 at-bats. He also led all fielders, excluding catchers, with 111 putouts.

Ryan Zimmerman, a freshman outfielder from Mandeville, Louisiana, provided a powerful bat to the Wolves’ lineup and posted a fielding percentage of 1.000. Zimmerman was second on the team in home runs with six and drove in 27 RBIs. The freshman batted .413 in 92 at bats. The speedy outfielder also stole 21 bases on the year.
