Barkfest 2.0: The reboot is coming

A Barkfest reboot will be held next weekend, no matter the weather.
The Brookhaven Animal Rescue League will be hosting Barkfest 2.0 on June 9 at the Brookhaven Exchange Club Park. The event will kickoff at 9 a.m.
“We held Barkfest in April, but due to inclement weather, the event was cut short. Our event chairman and other volunteers have tirelessly worked to organize Barkfest 2.0,” said Rusty Adcock, BARL board member.
There will be activities for dogs and humans alike, ranging from games and face painting, to a doggy spa and a puppy petting zoo. There will be vendors selling food and an assortment of products. The rides will be up and running from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and armbands will be available for $10. There will also be a car show sponsored by GT Collision and Accessories.
Owners can bring their dogs to the event, but they must be vaccinated, leashed, and well-mannered. Owners will be responsible for picking up after their dogs as well.
BARL is a nonprofit, volunteer-based organization that serves Copiah, Franklin, and Lincoln counties. The purpose of BARL is to care for homeless animals in a humane manner while contributing to community activities that promote public health, safety, the human-animal bond and the reduction of pet overpopulation.
All BARL animals are vaccinated and spayed/neutered. Dogs are also microchipped.
