Funeral services for George M. Callender Sr., of Ruth, are Saturday, June 9, 2018, at 11 a.m. at Brookhaven Funeral Home in Brookhaven (Natchez Drive) with burial at Topisaw Baptist Church Cemetery. Bro. David Moree will officiate the services.

Visitation will be today, June 8, 2018, from 5 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home and will continue Saturday, June 9, 2018, from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.

Mr. George, 84, died Wednesday, June 6, 2018, at Silver Cross Nursing Home in Brookhaven with his loving family by his side. He was born Nov. 7, 1933, in Jackson, to Otis Carley Callender and Vada Suritha George Callender. He enjoyed fishing and camping. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother.

Preceding him in death were his wife, Marguerite Hoskins Callender; parents; daughter, Donnie Jean Lambert; grandson, Jamie Ray Cartrette; one sister; and three brothers.

Survivors are his daughters, Connie Coffman and husband John, Sheri Hokamp and husband Danny, Kay Smith and husband Leo; sons, George Callender Jr. and Pam, Russell Callender and wife Ondria; nine grandchildren; and a host of great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Mr. Callender’s name may be made to Blair E. Batson Children’s Hospital.
