Funeral services for Maxie Evertte Mathis, of Wesson, are Saturday, June 9, 2018, at 10 a.m. at New Salem Church of Christ with burial at the church cemetery. Riverwood Family Funeral Service in Brookhaven is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will be today, June 8, 2018, from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

He will lie in state Saturday, June 9, 2018, from 9 a.m. until time of service at the church.

Mr. Mathis, 68, died Tuesday, June 5, 2018. He was born June 17, 1949, to the late Charles and Dorothy Glorman Mathis Rials. Mr. Mathis also known as “Bee-Man” was a devoted Christian who enjoyed bee keeping, “Bee Man”, and making tombstones.

Preceding him in death were his parents; wife, Doris Mathis; and sister, Bonnie Smith.

Survivors are his daughter, Marie Mercier and husband, Jeff; three grandchildren, Leannda Goss, Ashley Womack and husband Eric and Kevin Goss; one great-grandson, Colby Goss; and special friend, Cecil Smith whom he adored.
