VICKSBURG —  A man and a woman face robbery charges in the Saturday night theft of money from an 85-year-old man.

Vicksburg police Sgt. Johnnie Edwards said Shonda Lachella Anderson-Ellis and Johnny Earl Thomas are accused of assaulting the man in the 2900 block of Valley Street about 7:16 p.m. and taking an undisclosed amount of money.

Both are being held without bail in the Issaquena County Corrections Facility pending an initial appearance Wednesday in Municipal Court.

According to police reports, the victim said a woman approached him and asked him for a dollar. As he went in his wallet to get the dollar, he said he was ambushed by a man who hit him and took his wallet.

The couple was located Tuesday around 1:36 p.m. in the area of Fairground and Oak Street and brought in for questioning. They were later arrested.
