Wife arrested after husband accused of day care molestation in North Mississippi
HARMONTOWN, Miss. (AP) — A Mississippi woman who runs an in-home day care is facing neglect charges after her husband was charged with molesting children there.
The Oxford Eagle reports 60-year-old Sherry Westmoreland of Harmontown was arrested Monday and charged with six counts of contributing to the delinquency or neglect of a child and failure to make a mandatory report of sex crimes against a minor.
Her husband, 46-year-old John Westmoreland, was arrested last week and charged with six counts of touching a child for lustful purposes.
The Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department chief investigator, Alan Wilburn, says the victims are all thought to be 10- to 12-year-old girls.
It was not immediately clear whether the Westmorelands are represented by attorneys. They were jailed. His bond was set at $750,000 and hers at $500,000.
