Vicksburg police searching for four people in connection with shooting
From The Vicksburg Post
VICKSBURG — Vicksburg police are now looking for four people in connection with the shooting of a Vicksburg man Tuesday.
Lt. Johnnie Edwards said Michael Lamonte Sorrells Jr., 20, was sitting in his 1999 Toyota Camry with three other people when he was shot in the shoulder about 5:02 p.m. The other people in the car were not wounded.
Police were initially looking for one person, but learned three other people were involved with the shooting after further investigation. Edwards would not say if any of the people in the car with Sorrells were involved.
Sorrells was taken to Merit Health River Region by ambulance and later flown to the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, where he was in stable condition, police said.
Edwards said bullets fired at the car also struck a nearby house, adding the residents in the home reported finding the bullet holes about 7:21 p.m. Tuesday.
The case remains under investigation.
