Police were initially looking for one person, but learned three other people were involved with the shooting after further investigation. Edwards would not say if any of the people in the car with Sorrells were involved.

Sorrells was taken to Merit Health River Region by ambulance and later flown to the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, where he was in stable condition, police said.

Edwards said bullets fired at the car also struck a nearby house, adding the residents in the home reported finding the bullet holes about 7:21 p.m. Tuesday.

The case remains under investigation.
