Sea turtles going back to nature after returning to health
GULFPORT, Miss. (AP) — Several critically endangered sea turtles are getting another chance at life after being caught by fishermen and then brought back to health by marine specialists.
Kemp’s ridley sea turtles were all snagged along the Mississippi Gulf Coast, and the fishermen reported the accidental catches.
Team members from the Institute for Marine Mammal Studies recovered the turtles and rehabilitated them.
Boy Scouts are releasing the animals back into the Mississippi Sound on Saturday at a pier in Gulfport.
