The Lincoln County School Board finalized a few staff positions and made a last-minute change to a 16th section logging contract Thursday in a pair of special-called meetings.

At the recommendation of Bogue Chitto Attendance Center Principal Scott Merrell, the board accepted the resignation of teacher Leigh Newcomb, hired Laken Van Norman to replace Newcomb, hired Mary Forshee as bookkeeper and granted the football team permission to travel to Faith Academy for a game Aug. 24.

The board approved Enterprise Attendance Center Principal Terry Brister’s request to hire Christina Stokes Brister as a teacher, replacing Jon Goldman. Superintendent Mickey Myers’ request to hire Leah Brister as a teacher at Enterprise was also approved.

West Lincoln Principal John Shows’ request for a substitute teacher and a janitor were approved, and Loyd Star Principal Robin Case’s requests to hire Donna Beavers to teach elementary and Ashley Lynch as a kindergarten assistant were also approved. Case also added substitute teachers and accepted the resignations of Autumn S. Thornton and Kristin Douglas as assistants.

Assistant teachers Kellie Keene and Shantiereaka McIntosh were also hired at the recommendation of assistant superintendent Letha Presley.

The board approved all requests in one vote as part of the consent agenda with no discussion.

In a separate special-called meeting that began immediately after the first, the board amended a 16th Section logging contract with LandMax that would result in slightly higher prices in the board’s favor. LandMax brought the issue to the board’s attention.
