Funeral services for Era C. Peters will be Sunday, Aug. 12, 2018, at 2 p.m. at Riverwood Family Funeral Serice with burial at Riverwood Memorial Park.

Visitation will be Saturday, Aug. 11, 2018, from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Peters, 97, of Brookhaven, died Aug. 9, 2018, at Beehive Home in Brookhaven.

She was born on Aug. 17, 1920, to Gus Hugh Cole and Mylidia Clementine Norman Cole. Mrs. Peters was a retired registered nurse and a member of First Baptist Church Brookhaven. She was an Exchangette, LLL and an EX-POW member. She enjoyed gardening, reading, word puzzles and fishing.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Robert “Bob” Daniel Peters; sisters, Nellie Batchelor, Mildred Lyons and Alice Lewellin; daughter-in-law, Cora Peters; son-in-law, Hubert M. Jamison; and great-grandson, Joshua Jamison.

Survivors are her son, Willim H. Peters and wife, Karen; daughters, Martha P. Jamison and Mary P. Smith and husband, Joe; sister, Dorothy Baker; six grandchildren, Hugh Jamison, Amy Jamison, Eric Peters, Anna Ferrell, Brad Smith and Tate Smith; and seven great-grandchildren, Zachary and Alyssa Jamison, Alexis Peters, Will and Elise Ferrell, Caroline Smith and Claire Smith.

Memorials may be made to the Ex-POW/MIA Organization, Wounded Warrior Project, or a charity of your choice.
