Enterprise makes season debut at Salem

The scouting report that Enterprise has for Salem this week could fit on a postage stamp. The Wildcats are under new leadership and Enterprise coach Brooks Burns hasn’t been able to churn up much info on tonight’s opponent.
That’s meant that this week in practice the Yellow Jackets have focused on what they can control, themselves.
“I’ve told our kids that we’re going to come out and line up in the sets that we feel most comfortable running and it’ll be on us to make adjustments at halftime,” said Burns.
Burns enters his seventh season leading the Jackets as they come off of a 1-9 season. Their lone victory in 2017 was over Salem, 28-20, in overtime.
Salem is led by first year head coach Chris McCallum. McCallum, who has been serving previously as the head baseball coach at the school, replaces Kenneth Murphy. The Wildcats are mired in a 16-game losing streak that dates back to Sept. 23, 2016.
Enterprise took some lumps last weekend in a jamboree with their county rivals. Burns says the lesson from those games was to take a step back and focus on fundamentals.
“We went back to basics this week with our blocking and tackling work and I think the kids really responded with enthusiasm,” said Burns. Burns is assisted by Wade Boyte and John Paul Holmes.
Enterprise travels to Salem tonight for a 7 p.m. kickoff.
