Lightning ends BA’s lead over Cathedral at 20-13

The Brookhaven Academy Cougars were leading 20-13 over Cathedral when lightning stopped the game on Friday night in Natchez. The game will not be made up.

“It wouldn’t be fair to the kids to try and play it on Saturday,” said Brookhaven Academy head coach Ron Rushing. “They’ll be stove up tomorrow morning after playing a quarter tonight and it’s best for everybody if we just move on to next week.”

Cathedral took an early 6-0 lead just two minutes into the game.

The Cougars grabbed the lead on an interception returned for a touchdown by Collin Waldrop.

A Corey Case point-after kick made it 7-6 Brookhaven with 3:49 left in the first quarter.

The Cougars added another touchdown on a 9-yard Luke Johnston run.

With 9:40 left in the first half August Sullivan recovered a Green Wave fumble in the end zone to put the Cougars ahead 20-13.

Soon after the strong weather moved in and forced an end to the game.

Brookhaven Academy travels to Batesville next week for a game versus North Delta Academy.
