The Enterprise Yellow Jackets felt the bite of the Salem Wildcats Friday night in their first game of the season, losing 38-14 in Tylertown.

Head coach Brooks Burns plans to work more on the Jackets’ defense before they take on Puckett on the road Aug. 24.

“We didn’t tackle very well. That was the biggest thing that we didn’t do that we could do better,” he said. “We’ve got to tackle better. Be more aggressive on defense.”

This is Burns’ seventh season leading the Jackets as they come off of a 1-9 season. Their lone victory in 2017 was over Salem, 28-20, in overtime.

Burns gave a nod to Dylan Vaughn, a junior fullback, for his performance in Walthall County.

“He ran the ball very well, blocked well and had a good game,” he said.

Burns is assisted by Wade Boyte and John Paul Holmes.

Enterprise is on the road again to Puckett Aug. 24.
