The Puckett Wolves ran away from the Enterprise Yellow Jackets on Friday night in Puckett to win 31-0.

The Wolves offense — led by sophomore quarterback Tv’vez Tate — got off to hot early start. Tate connected with sophomore Price Tullos for 28-yard touchdown early in the first quarter.

The Jackets had exchange issues between center and quarterback that would lead to a quick turnover on their first series.

Enterprise could not withstand the powerful rushing attack of the Wolves. Tate scored with his feet on the next Puckett scoring drive when he raced into the end zone from 17 yards to put his team up 12-0.

The Wolves attempted a 2-point conversion to extend their lead, but the Jackets would hold strong on the conversion.

The Enterprise offense kept the chains moving throughout the first half but stopped themselves with another fumble on the exchange between quarterback and center.

The fumble allowed Puckett great field position. The Wolves would not waste any time as running back Zay Taylor evaded defenders in backfield, and rushed for a 47-yard touchdown. 

Tate connected once again with an open receiver for another passing touchdown late in the second quarter to push the lead to 26-0.

Tate called his own number on a read option and walked in the end zone for a 10-yard score later in the quarter to make the lead 31-0.

The Jackets rushed for 132 yards in the first half, but their passing game struggled as the quarterback duo between Jalon Grinstead and Matthew Burns went for a combined 2-for-5 for 12 yards in the first half.

After trailing 31-0 at halftime, the Enterprise defense stood strong in the second half and shut the Wolves out.

“We are just not aggressive enough on the defensive side of the ball,” said Jackets coach Brooks Burns.  “That is what is hurting us, our tackling on defense is horrible. Like I told the team, it’s a matter of desire and want-to. If we can improve on our tackling we should be a pretty good team.”
