Brookhaven Academy makes short work of Benton

The Brookhaven Academy Cougars (5-2) jumped out to a four-touchdown lead on Friday and never looked back as they trounced the Benton Academy Raiders (0-8) 42-16 on senior night.

Senior quarterback Dawson Flowers attempted and completed exactly one pass. It went for 81 yards and a score to senior wide receiver Cade Brown.

Tyler Fortenberry went 4-of-5 passing for 40 yards and a touchdown. Brown also hauled in a scoring pass from Fortenberry.

Junior running back Nick Ogden rushed six times for 125 times yards and two scores. Luke Johnston rushed 13 times for 89 yards.

Gunar Brister made eight tackles for the Cougars. Senior Sawyer Bowlin recovered a fumble and returned it 13-yards for a score. Gage Brown and Keegan Smith both snagged interceptions for BA.

BA led 42-0 at halftime.

“Our guys did a good job of taking care of business early on to get some of our younger guys playing time,” said Cougar coach Ron Rushing.

The Cougars travel to Farmerville, Louisiana, next week to take on Union Christian Academy.
