Softball playoffs resume Tuesday

Several area slow-pitch softball teams will be in action Tuesday as the second round of the MHSAA playoffs begin. All games will begin at 5 p.m., and three games will be played if necessary.

The Brookhaven High Lady Panthers will host West Harrison. Brookhaven received a first-round bye after winning their region. West Harrison defeated Hattiesburg in their first-round matchup. On Aug. 18, Brookhaven whipped West Harrison 17-1 in the Hattiesburg tournament.

The region-winning Bogue Chitto Lady Bobcats also received a first-round bye. Bogue Chitto will host the Lake Lady Hornets.

The West Lincoln Lady Bears will be on the road as they travel to play Enterprise-Clarke. On Saturday, the Lady Bears swept French Camp with 2-1 and 7-0 victories.

Wesson will also travel Tuesday as they visit Poplarville. The Lady Cobras swept Raymond with 10-0 and 9-2 wins.

Lawrence County will host Purvis Tuesday. The Lady Cougars demolished Crystal Springs on Saturday 15-0 and 21-0.
