The Brookhaven Trust plans to help preserve history — literally — with its Taste of the Trust benefit fundraiser this year.

A portion of the proceeds will be used toward improvements at the Lincoln County Historical and Genealogical Museum.

“We feel like the museum is a great asset to downtown Brookhaven and we want to help preserve the history that it holds,” said Trust President Jillian Ricceri.

Tickets are on sale for the annual Taste of the Trust, which will be Nov. 15 from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. at Brookhaven Country Club. Advance tickets are $35 and are available at the Brookhaven-Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce. Tickets are $40 at the door.

“The Brookhaven Trust holds one fundraiser each year, the Taste of the Trust, which features food-tasting, a silent auction and live music. The proceeds from this event benefit The Brookhaven Trust, which works to preserve historical and cultural elements of downtown Brookhaven and cultivation of the arts. We are so thankful for the continued support of our community making each year a huge success. We couldn’t do it without them,” Ricceri said.

The Brookhaven County Club is this year’s selected venue for the occasion. The location for the event changes each year to allow the Trust to spotlight a new venue with each Taste event.

“We want to support as many venues as we can,” she said.

Marvin Curtis and Topher Brown are providing the music for the evening.

More than 20 restaurants are participating in the Taste of the Trust, including last year’s People’s Choice Award winner, Betty’s Eat Shop. Others are Bob’s Sandwich Shop, Broma’s Deli, Cracker Barrel, Diamond J’s Meat Market,  Georgia Blue, Georgia Blue Bakery, La Mariposa, Magnolia Blues, Mitchell’s, The Junction, Poppa’s Buffet & Grill, So Delish Catering Co., Southwest Distributors, Teegie’s Sweeteez, That’s So Sweet, Tastefully Simple and The Tavern at Brookhaven Country Club.

Silent auction items are coming in, but Ricceri said they can always use more.

“We just started that process and we would love for anyone interested to participate,” she said.
