Brookhaven Academy senior softball player Morgan Smith signed a letter of intent with Southwest Mississippi Community College in a ceremony Nov. 8 in the school library. She was joined by her parents Chuck and Lori, head softball coach Becky Flowers, assistant coach Tyler Parvin and assistant coach Jose Acosta.

Smith started at first base for the 37-5-1 Lady Cougars in 2018. Flowers said Smith — an MAIS All-Star — was big part of the run BA made to the AA state championship series. As a junior — before transferring to BA — Smith suited up for an Enterprise team that finished division champs in Region 7-2A.
