Funeral services for Joel Sherman Smith, of Brookhaven, are Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2018, at 11 a.m. at Riverwood Family in Brookhaven with burial at New Sight Cemetery.

Visitation will be today, Nov. 27, 2018, from 5 until 8 p.m. at Riverwood and will continue Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2018, at 10 a.m. at Riverwood.

Mr. Smith, 79, of Brookhaven, died Saturday, Nov. 24, 2018, at his residence. He was born March 4, 1939, to the late Rudolph and Bonnie Mae Smith. He was an electrician by trade and worked in the oil field and truck driving industries as well. He served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He was a member of New Sight Baptist Church. He also served in the Mason and Shriner Organizations.

He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Eva Nell Laird; brothers, Rudolph Smith Jr. “RJ” and Perry Herschel Smith.

Survivors are his wife, Elaine Smith; daughters, Rhonda Sisco (Danny), Renae Maxwell (Richard) and Krista Smith (Don); seven grandchildren, Heather Seago, Daniel Sisco, Adam Smith, Dustin Sisco, Jacob Maxwell, Josh Maxwell and Austin Smith; seven great-grandchildren, Mikaylan Seago, Madison Seago, Kinsley Seago, Tucker Smith, Preston Maxwell, Eli Sisco and Gunner Smith.

He will be missed by all who loved him.
