Still time to donate to pantry fundraiser

Published 7:05 pm Tuesday, December 11, 2018

The clock is ticking. Just a few days remain in the Holiday Food Pantry fundraiser, a joint effort by Bank of Brookhaven and The Daily Leader.

Donations to the fundraiser benefit area churches and organizations that work to feed Lincoln County’s hungry — Bethel AME, St. Francis of Assisi/St. Vincent de Paul, The Greater Hope Foundation and Union Hall Baptist Church.

In past years, as much as $10,000 has been given to the effort. This year, we are woefully behind that mark.

We are grateful to those who have given (a list of donors can be found on the front page). We need more people and organizations to do the same.

If you have donated in the past, please consider doing so again this year. If you have never given to this effort, consider making this year the first of many.

Supporters have the option of donating anonymously, as a business, as an individual or in honor or memory of someone.

Contributions are accepted at both The Daily Leader and Bank of Brookhaven. Checks can be made out to Holiday Food Pantry.

Donations can be mailed to P.O. Box 551, Brookhaven, MS 39602, and they will also be accepted at the front desk of the newspaper office. Holiday Food Pantry donations will be published in The Daily Leader as they come in.

Contributions to the Holiday Food Pantry can also be mailed to the bank, given to bank cashiers or donated through the drive-through windows.

The food pantry drive ends Friday.
