Dorothy ‘Nell’ Purifoy Green

Funeral services for Dorothy “Nell” Purifoy Green are today, Dec. 18, 2018, at 2 p.m. at Riverwood Family in Brookhaven with burial at Easthaven Cemetery in Brookhaven.

Visitation was held Monday, Dec. 17, 2018, from 5 until 7 p.m. at Riverwood and will continue today, Dec. 18, 2018, from 1 p.m. until time of service at Riverwood.

Mrs. Green, 89, died Saturday, Dec. 15, 2018, at Golden Living Center in Brookhaven. She was born Dec. 18, 1928, to Linfield and Tenie Lea Purifoy. She was one of 13 children. She married Grady W. Green Sr. in 1948 and they were married until his passing in 1983. During high school, she began working for Bell Telephone Company and continued to work there for almost 20 years. In 1965 she opened her own business, Answerphone of Brookhaven, which she owned and operated for 20 years. After retiring she became a live-in companion for elderly ladies for 14 years. She touched many lives in a very special way throughout her life and will be greatly missed.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Grady W. Green Sr.; and grandson, Adam Duncan.

Survivors are her sons, Grady W. Green Jr. (Trudy) and Mike Green (Melanie), both of Brookhaven; daughters, Rebecca Hart (Tom) of Bogue Chitto, Nelda Duncan (Dale) of Horn Lake and Debbie Headley (Mark) of Madison; and brother, Bob Purifoy, of Savannah, Georgia.
