Lady Jackets pick up second straight win

Here is a look at how area high school basketball teams fared on Monday night.

Enterprise

The Enterprise Lady Yellow Jackets (5-7) picked up their second straight win on Monday night with a 43-29 victory over West Marion. Enterprise trailed 9-2 after the first quarter but used a big 20-8 third quarter to grab the victory.

Senior Breyauna Johnson led Enterprise with 13 points and eight rebounds. Fellow senior Brita-ny Barnett continued her strong play of late with 12 points and six assists. Freshman Natalie Har-ris chipped in nine points, Gracie Thompson scored four points, sophomore K.K. Jones added three points, and Belle Porter rounded out the Lady Jacket scoring with two points.

In the boys’ game, the Yellow Jackets (4-8) were undone by a cold shooting night that saw them finish 33 percent from the floor in a 64-42 loss to the Trojans. Enterprise finished just 1-of-14 from the three-point line. Sophomore point guard Hib Johnson led the Jackets with a season-high 24 points. Dylan Carter added eight points, Tray Baker scored three points, Taylor Presley scored three points and Austin Burns and Peytin Jergins rounded out the Enterprise scoring with two points apiece.

Enterprise closes the 2018 portion of their schedule on Friday at Lumberton.

Bogue Chitto

The 3A Franklin County Lady Bulldogs were more than Bogue Chitto could handle on Monday night as FC took a 63-49 win in Meadville. The Lady Bobcats (9-4) were led by DeAnna Ed-wards with 23 points. Kamilah Clay scored 12 points and Katelynn Palmer added nine points for the Lady Bobcats. Charlsie Wilson scored three points and Tyuna Brumfield scored two points for Bogue Chitto.

In the boys’ game the Bulldogs took home a 65-40 win over the Bobcats (3-10).

Bogue Chitto hosts 5A Wayne County on Saturday.
